"Generally a very pleasent experience ..."

About: Wrightington Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Generally a very pleasent experience considering I had an operation on my ankle, never been in hospital before, the nurses were lovely! the student nurses were fantastic! Very clean and lovely ward!

What could be improved

Didn't seem to be a great deal of nurses on shift at the time I was there, so had to wait for bathroom and meds etc, but honestly at the time, nothing to complain about!

Anything else?

The aftercare I received was shocking. I had one follow up appointment after my operation 6 weeks later (which wasn't even with the surgeon/specialist) and was told I would be seen again six weeks later....still waiting! I was informed my ankle would have to be X-rayed to check on the screws that were put into my ankle, as far as I'm aware I'm still on a waiting list.... Not only that, before my operation to see the specialist there was a minimum of a 2 hour wait, after which I was seen by someone else who didn't even know my case history, and was then referred to the specialist after I insisted i see him. I've phoned the hospital now on numerous occasions to see when I am going to get to see the specialist/surgeon again, and I basically can't even get an appointment, my ankle isn't right. The surgeon did not do what he said he would, I am in a lot of pain and this is 5 months after my operation. Not happy.
