"Cancellation of Operation"

all my experiences at Hairmyres have been great, but on this one occasion they let themselves down.

I had been booked in for a Gall Bladder operation and arrived on the morning of the operation and waited for over an hour when the theatre staff informed us that the surgeon doing the operation had been double booked and was at Monklands Hospital.

As I had cut short a family holiday to attend the Day Surgery Unit you can imagine my disappointment at having it cancelled. The staff were superb and were very embarrassed and apologetic and could not have handled it better.

I am appalled that a surgeon can be double booked and shows up a complete lack of communication between hospitals and I was not the only patient affected. Staff great, management poor! !
