"Glaucoma clinic"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I attended the Glaucoma Clinic at Leicester General Hospital on 23 September for an annual check.

The check was not very thorough.

The peripheral vision check for one eye was unsatisfactory and was not repeated in order to improve the results.

I mentioned a problem with that particular eye (loss of clear vision in one part of the field) and was told it was due to the varifocal prescription in my spectacles, even though there was no problem with the other eye.

Fortunately, I went back to my optician in Leicester and had a repeat test carried out which has identified a potential problem that will be referred to the hospital - hopefully the LRI.

Finally I was asked to carry out a distance vision check after having had eye drops.

Dear Reviewer,

We are sorry to hear about your recent experience in visiting Leicester General Hospital. We expect all our staff to provide the highest level of care to all our patients and so we apologise for you being made to feel that you weren’t listened to and that the care you received was not of a high standard. We would like to look into the matter further so that we can improve the service we provide our patients. If you would like us to do so please send your details (NHS number, date of birth, name etc.) to Martin.Watts@uhl-tr.nhs.uk.

Kind regards,

Martin Watts,
