"Transmission of infection"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

The treatment by nurses and doctors is first rate.

They were empathetic and explained everything very well.

However friendliness of reception staff was lacking - a smile costs nothing and makes such a difference to a family whose lives have been turned upside down.

Biggest problem was with a porter.

They had a streaming nose and sneezed everywhere.

This has resulted in a streaming cold for someone whose immune system is already compromised and may make a huge difference to his cancer treatment.

I understand low paid workers may not get paid if they stay away, so there may be no incentive for them to stay at home, but surely management could check the health of their staff and re-deploy them to departments where this would not make such a critical difference?
