"Colonoscopy examination"

Having gone through all the unpleasant preparation for this procedure at home - which I have had to do for 2 similar previous examinations over the past 6 years, I attended for a morning appointment in the Endoscopy Unit at the Wansbeck.

I was called promptly and once in the care of one of the Sisters on the Unit I felt as if I was being treated like a VIP.

I was greeted by the charming consultant and any anxiety I might have had was calmed. Everything seemed to be carried out in an efficient yet relaxed way and I felt cared for at all times.

I could hardly believe how quickly everything happened and when it came to the examination my concerns about pain relief had been fully appreciated and I never felt a thing. The only discomfort was residual air in my gut which soon dissipated. I was given a verbal report by the consultant soon afterwards and also handed a printed report to take away.

I was completely happy with the whole procedure and was able to leave within 2.1/2 hours. Thank you so much to all the cheerful pleasant people on the Unit. I feel we are so lucky to have this kind of care and it is a pity when other patients do not appear to experience it.
