"Consultant led aftercare"

About: Northern General Hospital

On 12th December 2014 I underwent surgery to totally fuse my left ankle.Unfortunately the indications are that the ankle is not fusing properly.I am in quite severe pain when

I try to walk.In view of this I find it disgusting that I have had no contact with the consultant surgeon who carried out the operation, since the day they actually did the op. Each time I come to the clinic I am seen ''by one of the consultant's team".

It would be much easier to speak to the consultant face to face and to discuss a course of action.

I am not blaming the staff for this situation as I am always treated with respect.

I can only assume it is some sort of hospital policy.

I find the situation totally unacceptable.

I am sorry that you do not seem to have had any continuity of care with the same member of staff. If you wish us to look into this in more detail please could you contact our Patient Services Team who will be able to assist into looking in to your concerns,

The team can be contacted on telephone number 271 2400 or by email pst@sth.nhs.uk and they will be pleased to help.

Kind regards.
