"Visiting"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

I am currently an inpatient on Ward 14,I was admitted because of an infection that still needs to be sorted. I am horrified that visiting is only 1 hour in the evening. My elderly father came to see me tonight and is not will himself had only been on the unit 10 minutes and then asked to leave.

It's a well documented fact that visiting promotes recovery. Had I been on the Peter Smith Sugery Centre this would not have been a problem, nothing was a problem only that the patients where happy.

Sorry to hear about this issue with waiting times. Please discuss this with the matron on the ward or any member of the nursing team who should be able to help resolve this with you. If you don't feel comfortable doing this please get in touch with the PALS team who can work on your behalf. For more information see here: http://www.qegateshead.nhs.uk/pals
