Early Saturday evening 19th September I had to bring my husband to A & E as he had a terrible nosebleed for over an hour and we couldn't stop it. As soon as we arrived the receptionist was kind and caring and kept the formalities to the minimum and we went straight through to see a very nice sister. They gave the first fundamental treatment to stem the bleeding. Within 15 minutes the doctor came who was also pleasant and fitted an inflatable balloon to stop the bleeding. We then had to wait for an ear nose and throat doctor to come down. Although this took an hour or more in the meantime our care assistant provided us with cups of tea and sandwiches and kept popping back to make sure we were ok. Once the EN&T doctor had seen my husband they said he needed to stay in over night for observation. A bed was found within the hour and our lovely care assistant accompanied us to the ward and waited with me while my husband was settled and then showed me back down to the A & E exit. The ward staff were very helpful especially as this was not an expected stay! In the morning the EN&T doctor from the previous evening put their head round the door before going off duty to make sure all was well with my husband and explained the next duty doctor would be around shortly to see him, which they were. He received some more treatment and was able to come home at lunch time on the Sunday. We could not fault the treatment we both received at EDGH, thank you for looking after my husband so well and me!
