I attended day surgery for an operation to remove a skin cancer from my head. I was given prompt attention and nurses and surgeon were kind, and very professional. Subsequently following an infection in the wound I attended the Maxillo Facial Clinic over a two month period. The nurses were wonderful, caring and skilful, always showing great interest in their work. The wound is now healed and looking good.
The only problem we met was after the initial surgery. I was told I would get an appointment to see a consultant a week after surgery. Nothing happened so I phoned; I was put through to cosultant's secretaries where I left a message. After 24 hours no response had come so my wife drove over from Seaford and sorted things out. For us, being mobile, this was no great problem. However for those on their own lack of response to telephone enquiries poses a serious problem.
Despite the above my experience at Eastbourne DGH was a very positive and reassuring one. We are very happy to have such a high standard of care in the area.
"Excellent care"
