My experience relates to the way I was treated at The Alex, having been admitted with renal colic and kidney stones; From Reception right through to the specialist care in the Urologyy Department and ward, I have nothing but praise for the care and consideration received from all staff, who although they perhaps don't realise it, helped me enormously to cope with the agonising pain I was in.
From cleaning staff through to Consultants I received 5 star treatment in an incredibly welcoming environment, where nothing seems to be too much trouble to make patients feel as comfortable as possible in the distress they feel at such a vulnerable time in their lives.
The treatment and care received equates to what I received at a private clinic last year near Geneva for a similar condition, which had a profit making logic, so absent from this NHS experience. My stay has prepared me for the forthcoming operation to remove 5 kidney stones from the left kidney, and to be assured that the quality of my care will be just as professional, just as caring, and just as what one should expect from a National Health Service like our own.
Many people can moan about our hospital service, but if they receive treatment like I have thus far at The Alex, I am certain their opinions will change significantly.
Thank you to all concerned for making me feel as if I am not just another number in their and my health care environment.
