"Nothing."

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nothing.

What could be improved

Cleanliness, nursing staff, food

Anything else?

I was admitted to the maxillo facial ward which in most cases, were patients of a serious nature.

The toilets were cleaned a maximum 0f once a day and were disgusting most of the time. The end of the ward was used as storage for towels etc., some of which were still badly stained when given out. Lack of attention to cleanliness in the corners and under the beds. Attitude of some of the nurses was agressive and lacked empathy and understanding of the level of suffering. This was discussed amongst other patients whilst I was there. The food was disgusting and the choice extremely limiting for someone like myself who could not eat proper food due to my condition. Being admitted via the A&E department in the evening was also a dreadful experience. Although in tremendous pain and I had cancer, I was put in the queue and left to wait a long time before I saw anyone (although it was obvious the level of suffering I was going through) whilst obvious time wasters went before me. I was eventually sent to a holding ward until a bed was made available, and there I did find the staff very compassionate, caring and understanding of my serious condition, very different from those on the ward I ended up on.
