"A couple of the Nursing and Medical ..."

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

(as a relative),

What I liked

A couple of the Nursing and Medical Staff were slightly less pathetic than others.

What could be improved

Everything!! My wife's treatement has, overall, been abysmal. I am ashamed that I work for the NHS!

Anything else?

Food - My wife has a specific medically related diet due to a severe chronic Chrones related illness. She has been on a Gastro Ward for a fortnight. The first week I had to to take a week off work (I work within the NHS) in order to feed her. She is on a Vegan, low fibre diet. She was being fed beef meatball's and sweetcorn, brown bread etc...all high fibre and well..for those of you who do not know Vegan Diets consist of no meat and no dairy..It actually said on the meal tub Vegan Diet..Low Residue and contained meatballs!!!.

Nursing staff - Unable to do injections correctly, take blood pressures, organise an emergency colonoscopy (she waited a week!!)...I had to ring the dietician myself from home to get her seen and eventually fed (One edible suitable meal in 14 days!). Nursing Staff (staff nurses) pulled out my wifes cannula. There was blood everywhere. That nurse left my wifes hand dripping with blood!!..another nurse had to clean it up.

Doctors - One particular doctor was more concerned with how many patients she had to treat than my wifes feelings...(She was traumatised so badly last time she was in and almost died due to failings she needed to see a psychologist before stepping foot back into this god forsaken hell hole!!)..this doctor was rude and insensitive and basically said that she better get used to having to recount her history because, apparently, doctors who work at MRI are far to busy to look at patients notes..even when its so upsetting to the patient to talk about it. I wasn't allowed to speak on my wifes behalf. I have put in a complaint. This doctor refused to apologise....

Pharmacy - The ward staff do not know where the Pharmacy is..honestly..that is what their excuse was!!!

Last time she was in a couple of months ago...

No food supplied in 10 days...She was taken and left in the wrong clinic for 2 hours in agony!...No apologies...Note are repeatedly lost despite them being the size of a small car!!

PALS have been informed!
