My Son injured his knee whilst playing football at school, he took a blow to his knee and I tried to treat him at home using a tubigrip but the next day when he came home from school it was worse and more bruised and swollen. he wasnt puting any weight on it amd walking on his tip toes so I decided to take him to monklands hospital where he was examined by consultant who I feel basically sent us packing and told we should have tried home remedies instead of 'wasting' an hour and a half down at a+e which he stated before he even examined my son, the examination took less than 5 minutes which consisted of him bending his leg, he then went on to repeat himself about the home remedies and sent us on our way without an xray which he stated he didnt need.
A few days later my sons leg wasnt any better and he was still complaining so we had another trip to a+e and saw another doctor who done a thorough examination of my son and decided an xray was necessary, he also spoke directly to my son to find out what had happened instead of lecturing me for using the service. the result of the xray shown blood and fluid in his knee and what he believed to be a fracture, he examined him once again after seeing his xray and then arranged for a nurse to measure him up for a splint. I left the hospital with an appointment for the fracture clinic. I feel if the doctor we saw first had examined him thorougly my sons treatment would not have been delayed.
