"Telford Princess Royal stroke ward"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as the patient),

I had a minor stroke 3 weeks ago and was admitted to the Princess Royal at Telford.

I really can't fault the nursing staff. The ward was unbearably noisy at night, but the nurses found me a single room quickly so I was able to get some much needed sleep.

I'm amazed that management have put the nursing staff on 12 hour shifts; I don't know how the poor nurses can be expected to cope with that?

There are couple of things I'd like to point out: the lady in charge of catering was lovely and managed to rustle up some vegan food for me, but the catering food in Wolverhampton could do much better than jacket potato and beans each day.

Also, the therapist made me take a sort of 11+ test; I wish I'd felt well enough to tell her that asking retired people what the date is is a lost cause at the best of times - you lose all track of dates when you stop work.

I also think that the lights could be dimmed a t night.

Overall I'm very grateful for the treatment I received.
