"Excellent Care All Round"

About: Highfield Hospital

I had neck surgery at the Highfield Hospital on 7th September and stayed overnight.

The Consultant, was excellent and clearly explained the potential benefits and risks of surgery and left me to make my own informed choice.

They are very friendly, welcoming and professional and an excellent communicator.

I felt respected and valued.

The nursing staff were absolutely brilliant in their care - I could not have asked for any better care.

They looked after me so well, during the day and night equally, in tending to my pain relief and general care.

If they said they would come back with drugs etc, they did just that.

Their advice on aftercare was also very thorough - they explained everything that I needed to know.

The catering staff were faultless - the food was very nice, multiple choices and it came as soon as it was ordered.

The only slight improvement, which I have noted before about the Highfield during previous surgery, is the lack of welcoming from the reception staff in the main building - the reception staff are great in the outpatients but just are not friendly or welcoming at all in the main building, near to the inpatients suite.

When you are being admitted for surgery, it is the first point of contact for you on the day, and you may be feeling nervous - so a friendly, smiley face would be so nice and would help to put you at ease.
