Complained continually about a very painful canula _ it took 2 days for it to be removed leaving a large painfull lump. The doctor tried for 15 minutes to replace cannula and finally realised they were not sliding the "blade" out _ they never succeeded!
My umbilical hernia resulted with large painfull swellings and after being sent home twice in extreme pain, I returned to Alexander ward.(2 weeks in total)
One of the Doctors then twice stuck a scalpel into my wound without any local anaesthetic in attempting to reduce the swelling causing extreme pain and stress.
My operation was then re-opened up under full anaesthetic and the wound was left open.
The consultant inspected the wound and instructed the nurse to pack and dress it immediately.
After 2 hours the wound had still not been attended to and had bled profusely through my pyjamas and through the sheets on my bed. I was given an incontinence pad to hold on the wound. It was a further 4 hours before it was dressed after I complained
"Totaly disorganised and terrible experience"
