I had to visit the Gastro unit this year due to low iron levels.
Combined endoscopy/colonoscopy was recommended but after thinking about this (I am a big wimp) I cancelled them and left matters there.
Was really surprised to receive a call a few weeks later from the Consultant who persuaded me to try, as it was important to be checked out.
Attempted the endoscopy but could not tolerate the tube.
Thought (even hoped) that BRI would have given up on me.
But the fantastic Consultant (who must have the patience of a saint) rang again and arranged for a barium study and CT virtual colonoscopy.
I sailed through these two without problems and my results appear to be reassuring.
Staff throughout in all procedures were great and very kind and helpful, even when mega busy.
Re the "oscopies", I do think that people are put off by the thought of these but there ARE other options so I'd urged anyone who is worried about symptoms to ask about alternatives.
