What I liked

Nothing at all - based on the care my friend's husband received I hope and pray I am never a patient at Royal Oldham.

What could be improved

Everything

1. General care - my friend, the patient's wife, is a nursing assistant - she had to wash and change him because he wasn't washed properly by the hospital staff, and she told me she frequently found him in a bed full of faeces. That upset her so much.

2. Poor care of his personal hygiene - his wife did that - not the nurses - they didn't seem to bother.

3. Poor communication - nurses gave wrong information about his condition when we rang to ask about him. For example nurses told us he was he was sitting out of bed to eat his meal when in fact he was too ill to be able to eat anything at all. They were talking about the person in the next bed.

4. Nurses at Oldham Royal do not properly wash their hands (or apply alcohol gel properly) between patients. They seem unaware of how to prevent the transmission of MRSA, C difficile and even the swine flu virus.

Anything else?

I am too cross and too upset to write any more. I hope no-one I care about is treated in this hospital again.
