What I liked

The Doctor was very approachable, discussed everything in detail throughout the process from the beginning, the staff treated me with respect, kindness, care, modesty and thoughtfulness while I was in their care for the duration. They treated patients, who were quite difficult, with manners and patience at all times.

My visitors were impressed with the standards of the hospital and the cleanliness of the ward was supberb each day.

The staff washed hands, wore gloves, aprons and generally took excellent care of hygiene in all areas.

I would like to thank The Royal Oldham for the care given, I am now recovering at home and making good progress.

What could be improved

Some patients were transfered to the ward from other wards after their operations, but some of them were in need of special care, for example one lady wanted to go home at 12.30am and was quite a pain for a couple of hours, the nurses tried to calm her, talk to her and convince her to get back into bed, she was having none and got out of bed to go home at least another three times, eventually she was moved into a side ward where she settled eventually. I do not know how suitable or what the expence would be, it would be better for these people to have special care, the rest of the patients on the ward were very tired the day after due to lack of sleep. This happened on two occasions in the six days I was there. The staff did apologise for the problem and it was obvious that they did have time spent trying to care for these patients when others also needed attention.

Car parking is impossible!

Thank you for your comments regarding T3, we have passed them to the Divisional Nurse Manager for Surgery at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

With regards to the issues regarding car parking we have passed your comments to the Director of Facilities.
