"Consultant"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

This week I came to see the Consultant at ENT QMC, I have been a patient for over ten years and until now have been completely satisfied, I had never seen this consultant before, but felt like I was just wasting their time and they wanted me out of the clinic asap, they were very abrupt, and wasn't aware I had a scan five months ago had that I had two polyps until I told them, but what really upset me was when they went to examine my nose they never numbed my nose and told me to open my mouth where they placed the end of the camera on my tongue (not sure why) then proceeded to put the camera up my nose.

It felt very uncomfortable and never before had I been treated like this from my previous consultant when using the camera. I understand this is a busy clinic but I feel totally sadden by what happened. I left the consulting room very upset and felt very let down.

We take seriously our values and behaviours and expect our staff to demonstrate these consistently. It seems we have fallen short on this occasion, for which we apologise. I would welcome the opportunity to speak to you directly to get some further information so that we can speak to the member of staff concerned and where appropriate they can reflect on their behaviours and their impact on your experience. If you wish to get in touch, you can contact me via my secretary on 0115 924 9924 ext 61224.

Kind regards,

Andrew Marshall

Clinical Director, Head & Neck
