"Reassuring expertise at the Royal Free Hospital"

About: Royal Free Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

My husband was admitted to the hospital because of suspected pneumonia. He had been very ill for several days prior and because he was relatively young (mid 30s) this was extremely worrying. When he arrived at the hospital, he was assessed pretty quickly and immediately admitted.

The staff that worked with him were able to make him more comfortable right away which helped put us at ease almost instantly. Although we waited some time to see the doctor who would be able to confirm the initial diagnosis, we were please to see that he was very knowledgable and took time to answer all of our questions.

While I think there are vast improvements to be made in other areas & services of the hospital (and I have been a regular patient of this hospital for the pregnancy and birth of my two children), I have always been pleased with the calibre of the staff and the expertise they have applied in critical situations. If I don't always get the service I want for a smaller, less critical event, I'm comfortable knowing that when it matters, the Royal Free will deliver the right people to help.
