"Unprofessional consultant"

About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

I had an appointment with a consultant today at 16:10 to discuss and arrange an operation in the near future, I had some questions and concerns about my operation which involved major surgery, the consultant gave me no answers to my questions in any meaningful way and rushed me out of their office to wait outside, I thought I was going to be called back in, but instead another member of staff requested I follow them to the surgery booking office and that was the end of the consultancy, it lasted approximately 2 minutes, I wont be using this consultant who won't explain what the surgery involves.

This is my life and I am expected to go under the knife without any knowledge of what is being done to me or by whom.

I'm going back to my doctor to arrange a second opinion and this time I will be sure to vet the consultant first.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback here about your recent experience at our hospital.

We are really sorry and concerned to hear about your issues regarding one of our consultants and that the procedure you are due to have was not explained to you.

Clearly this is not the care we strive to provide our patients and for that we can only apologise.

Without more details it is difficult to comment further about your case, but we would encourage you to contact our Patient Experience Team on 01932 723553 or email pals@asph.nhs.uk so that we can address these issues.
