"Great ambulance service"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

(as a friend),

My 92 year old neighbour fell in the early hours of the morning and was found by his carers when they arrived to help him get dressed and ready. They called for an ambulance as they need help in getting him off the floor without injuring him and also let me know as they know I also check that he is OK.

I was there when the ambulance crew arrived, the paramedics Andre and Richard were really kind and considerate with him. They picked him up off the floor and checked that he was not injured in any way or that there were no underlying conditions that may have caused him to fall and may therefore fall again.

The paramedics did not make him feel rushed or uncomfortable because he had fallen, they treated him with respect and dignity, check he was able to walk normally and that all other responses were good. I think they were with him for around 20 minutes.

They filled out an incident report sheet which they left for the district nurse who comes to dress an ulcer each day and for the carers who come later in the day.

I just think we are so lucky to have such a good service in the area, so lucky.

Hi Duckling78

Thank you for taking the time to provide our service with feedback. I hope your neighbour is feeling better now.

We would be very happy to share your generous words of thanks with the ambulance staff involved in your neighbour's care, however to do so we will need a little more specific information. If you are happy to do so please may I ask you to contact our Patient Engagement Team on either 01392 458831 or plaudits@swast.nhs.uk and one of the team will be very pleased to take you through the process for sharing thanks with our staff.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your story with us.

Sara
