"Shocking lack of care for a labouring woman"

I gave birth last month, this time at Whipps Cross as had thyroid disease - which I was glad as last two deliveries were not satisfactory at Queens in Romford.

My waters had broke and contractions every two minutes so called Labour (after four attempts as telephone staff couldn't get it right); was assed and sent to the pre-labour and induction ward. Every member of staff asked "what are you here for?" - appears staff do not hand over any thing and nobody was interested anyway - tried to explain needed thyroxine prescribed for the morning and got a rude reply about bringing my own in.

Got severe pain hours later and given dihydrocodeine by an impolite midwife who spoke to me once in 7 hours... then got another who acted like they were disgusted at all labouring woman - terrible attitude... then had such severe pain was crying/screaming but they didn't come- So rang buzzer to have a student midwife offer paracetamol. They also argued that my birth partner couldn't come in as this wasn't labour ward....

A new face came and assessed - said 4cm. I was screaming for pain killers still so the midwife gave gas & air that another staff member then broke. Three staff took me to labour ward on the bed then - and hit every wall and door frame and piece of equipment on the way there. Then told me to walk when couldn't manouvre bed - I felt let like baby was stuck and was having constant Agony - they still have me no pain killers.

They did not speak to me like a labouring mum in severe pain that has had two other children and could feel this was wrong. They spoke very rarely and when did they treated me like a lying idiot with no compassion no care and no dignity or respect. I felt scared for my life and my baby and have never been in such a horrific position in my entire life. I can honestly say I am traumatised and get tearful every time I think of this or speak of this delivery.

At last a Dr came (I was under consultant lead care but hadn't seen a Dr since admission ) - advised baby okay as put monitor on for 60 seconds. The Dr was kinder than midwives and said would take baby out in a second if it was in danger.

After minutes screaming crying and begging Dr to literally knock me out they gave an injection. Baby came soon after - skull was squashed (severely overlapped sutures they call it) from being stuck but he was alert and breathing so they dressed him, then without telling me why or talking to me, they physically pulled out my placenta (that felt horrid but I was still suffering from the strange pain I had from baby position ).

I wasn't cleaned or helped to tidy the blood that was all over bed and floor and was left alone for hours - in literal shock and tears.

I feel that I had a very traumatic experience and think the staff are not trained and couldn't care less than they did.

I feel the lack of communication was frightening and felt no care was given.

I would never have another child false stop after that - let alone at Whipps.
