About: Warrington Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

It is essential that nurses and doctors at Warrington Hospital understand the requirements of old age. My 87 year old mother-in-law went to the hospital for treatment along with her 89 year old husband who she cares for and who cannot be left on his own. She was very distressed when a nurse made her husband leave the treatment room despite a request that he stayed with her as he has amemory loss problem and would become disorientated on his own. This was unthinking, unprofessional and inappropriate. Instead of being able to concentrate upon herself she then spent 1 hour worrying about her husband until he was found wandering through the hospital not knowing where he was.

Anything else?

How we treat our senior citizens is a reflection of our society and Warrington Hospital has failed us all badly. I hope the hospital authorities review their rules especially when it impacts upon elderly patients. One rule does not apply to all.
