"Care provision second to none"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

Only having experienced A&E before i was a little apprehensive about having an operation done due to how busy the A&E Staff were at the time.

However I had the pleasure (?) of Fess surgery on Tuesday by my consultant and their team.

As i live alone they agreed an overnight stay without questions, and arrived to be promptly booked through the day clinic. All the nurses prepping me upon reception were friendly chatty but caring and put my mind to rest. The anaesthetists introduced them selves and answered my questions.

Whilst wiating in the seperate area i must admit i was getting nervous, but i was visited by the consultant and their team who were very chirpy and informative and kind of put my mind at rest.

Once in the theatre prep room again the team were great and humourous but very professional. And then the lights went out.

Woke up in recovery area and again the post op care team were attentive and friendly nothing was too much trouble.

I was then moved to the Christiansen ward and cannot say anything but great things. Both the day and night team were onhand at all times offering water, food etc whilst undertaking their checks. The ward was spotless and a great place to recover.

The morning rounds came and several ENT surgeons came round to do an assessment etc which was informative and a nice touch.

Overall the whole operation was streamlined yet had a personal touch.

Just one area where i think it could be better.

Discharging

I was officially cleared to go at 9am, however could not leave until 1pm due to the pharmacy prepping the meds. I appreaciate the pharmacy is busy serving the whole hospital and probably very busy, and i was in no rush to go as it meant chicken korma for lunch, however as beds are at a premium i would of thought they would prefer to get you up and out so the beds can be made avaliable for someone else.

Only a minor thing not a critiscism at all and only for the benefit of the hospital ,however overall a wonderfull experience of a not so nice time in my life!
