What I liked

I have tried with great difficulty to think of something positive about ward 12 but there is nothing.

What could be improved

Communication with patients and visitors. One nurse was particularly abrupt, bordering on rude. No information was forthcoming about my mother's care. It was difficult to get through to the ward on the phone. they kept you waiting for quite some time to get into the ward and off it. When I did ask questions I was fobbed off most of the time. There were no visitors toilets on the ward and the nearest were 2 floors down and right down the long corridor. The patients toilets were rarely clean and it took 3 days for faeces to be cleaned off the floor and despite it also being up the wall, the wall was not cleaned at all despite it being reported.

I balance this against care my father received in ward 17 the previous month which was excellent.

Anything else?

I am in shock at the total lack of care on ward 12. I was also kept on hold on the phone one day and I could hear a doctor shouting at a patient for falling out of bed.
