From my arrival and pre op check in I was looked after by several nurses and doctors who were very thorough and professional, although I was very nervous they were caring and helped me to get ready for my op. I was given details of what was going to happen in the op, and any questions I had were well answered. After the op I had a nurse with me full time until I got a bed allocated, I waited about 1 hour for an available ward to be available. The staff were very apologetic for this, but in my view it is the leaders in the hospital that are letting their staff and patients down with un availability of beds. The shuffling of patients during my stay was excessive, all re work for a very busy hospital. It does make me wonder why the same trust leaders seem to be scaling West Cumberland back and pushing more patients onto an already overcrowded hospital. Back to the aftercare I received, first class, good food, friendly staff who engage with patients. Very patient with everyone and incredibly hard working. I would take pride if they worked for me and think that they are the face of the NHS and who show this hospital in a very positive way.
