"Diagnosed over the phone and told to go away..."

About: John Coupland Community Hospital

I never like to go to a doctor or Hospital with an issue as i believe that they will clear themselves given time, however i have just had a new baby girl and my constant noise from coughing on a night time is waking her up so i decided that it was time to do something about it after a week.

Called the hospital after being advised to by my own local GP as it wasn't open that afternoon advised they would be able to asses me quicker.

I called to make sure this was ok with the hospital without making a wasted journey.

Called and put through to the medical assesment unit for minor injurys, explained my situation to the person on the phone who told me to wait a minute while they went and asked if this was possible.

I waited patiently for the Nurse practitioner to come on the phone i said hello and was about to start to tell them the scenario, however the NP stopped me almost straight away told me that there was no point in me coming down to them as they could tell over the phone that i didnt have a chest infection and that they point blank wouldnt see me said thanks and put the phone down.

However it turns out that this Nurse who is able to diagnose people over the phone was completly wrong in her exceptional assesment and i do indeed have a quite severe chest infection.

Completly useless!
