"Post surgery care"

About: York Hospital

Felt my day of surgery and afterwards was mostly spent waiting around, waited 5 and a half hours from the time I was asked to come in until the time I went for surgery. After care was awful! None of the nurses seemed to know what surgery I had had so were offering me food I couldn't eat, in the end left me with ice cream for breakfast which was like 2 spoonfuls! I told the staff numerous of times the painkillers weren't doing anything but not once did they listen and do anything instead it seemed they just lowered the dosage. In the morning a member of staff came round to talk to me about going home but instead of speaking to me just spoke to a medical student then walked away. Was then made to wait 4 hours to be discharged with no explanation. When discharged was told nothing about how long it would take for my condition to get better and that I had no follow up. Also was given painkillers to leave with that even when snapped in half were far to big for me to swallow after my surgery so they're useless to me.
