"A little impersonal"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

Recently was day case in gynae outpatients. Found communication a little slow from nurses and very matter of fact. Wasn't given any notice of when I would go to theatre (would have been nice to know if I was 1st or 5th and they were starting at ?am etc). Nurse just appeared in cubicle and said 'right are you ready'. Appreciate they are extremely busy but found them a little unfriendly.

Ended up having to stay on ward for few hours and had to go to nurses desk twice to ask questions as other than having blood pressure taken and caterers coming in I didn't see anyone. Had to ask twice to have cannula removed before leaving. My husband was collecting me at pick up point so had to leave ward alone, wasn't asked if I would be ok or given any advice or information on what to expect/do when I got home ie. pain management, care of wound, how long off work etc.

Overall I wouldn't rate the hospital badly, it's very clean and well laid out and runs efficiently I just found it a little impersonal and hope my above comments might help as I feel more communication would have made my experience better.
