I use my local surgery at Lofthouse and have to say that their service is outstanding. I have never had a problem getting an appointment, they listen carefully and provide excellent care.
I had a urinary infection and was fast tracked to Pinderfields within two working days. I had some ultrasound scans (one of which was on a Saturday which was great for me).
The consultant was very professional and talked me through the stages of the investigation so I was fully informed about what would be happening in the weeks ahead.
One thing that alarmed me was that some blood tests carried out by my GP were not available on their screen at the time of my visit. According to anecdotal evidence it would seem that because we live at Lofthouse (which pays rates to Leeds) the IT system used by my GP posts information on the Leeds system which does not appear on the Pinderfileds IT system. Bizarre!
Admin from some central office in another part of the country kept sending me letters saying I should complete the choose and book process; but as I had been fast tracked it did not seem to have halted that part of the process (I have used choose and book before for other issues and it has worked fine).
So many people complain about the NHS and of course things will go wrong with systems built by imperfect humans. Where there is a real tragedy it seems to me that most hospitals do their best to learn and improve. However it should be viewed in context. When compared with so many other countries we are a very fortunate people.
I have been in Pinderfields before for other problems in the past and can only say that the staff, Doctors, speed and professionalism with which I have been treated are second to none. Well done to you all!
