"I visited general outpatient with ..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I visited general outpatient with my mother in law for a 3.00pm appointment she was seen by a junior doctor instead of her usual consultant, the poor chap knew nothing at all about her illness which is parkinsons, between the doctor&the consultant they decided to admit her after blood tests, xrays, she went to the medical assesment unit a full room of people waiting for hours on end for a bed the unit didnt seem to have enough staff to cope you cant blame the poor overrun nursing staff whom are run off there feet, blame managment or bad managment what acomplete fiasco finally found a bed 8hours of hanging around finally got her settled only to be told that the day after she was moved to pendle what a complete and utter fiasco.

What could be improved

scrap medical assesment unit my mother in law could have gone home and returned when a bed had been found.

Anything else?

yes there are no facilities on medical assement for members of families whom are waiting to be admitted,no cold water to drink it was extremely hot&stuffy.
