"very anxious patient"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

i suffer from acute health anxiety, and so was very frightened during a recent health scare when i needed to attend and undergo diagnostic tests at the ladies healthcare/gynecology unit. The Vast majority of staff were patient and supportive showing empathy and compassion, especially the two wonderful nurses who were with me when i had my hysteroscopy. The consultant was charming and reassuring. Its so important that each patient is treated as an individual as everyones needs are different. As i say most of the staff were understanding, though the odd one may stop to consider how very frightening hospital visits can be for some. I appreciate how very busy the nursing staff are working in often very challenging situations , but they chose that profession and as it is a "caring" profession they should Never become blase, and if they do, then maybe its time to do something else.

Hello, our board recently heard a "patient story" from a lady who had acute health anxiety and it really drove home the messages you have said about treating people as individuals. It is good to know that the majority of our staff did just that, though it seems there is still some room for improvement. Thank you for posting this and we wish you well.
