I am writing this review, as my mother's eldest daughter and because our beloved Mum died last Friday evening at the Tonbridge Cottage Hospital. Mum was moved to Tonbridge after 3 weeks in the Acute Stroke Unit at Pembury hospital, when it was apparent that she was not going to recover from a very serious stroke.
The plan was for the team at Tonbridge to assess her and help us find a nursing home that she could then move on to - however, events overtook us all and she began to weaken.
The staff at this lovely hospital nursed and cared for my mother with infinite care, patience and genuine affection. The doctor involved our family in all decisions, gave us way more time than I am sure they had and had the utmost respect for our wishes. In the final days, when we were pretty much with Mum all the time, they afforded us privacy, support and endless cups of tea. Touchingly, several members of staff came to say their goodbyes to Mum and to us, knowing the end was in sight and that they were finishing their shifts.
We as a family will always be grateful that Mum spent her last weeks in such a special hospital, and for the support and consideration we also received - thank you!
"Wonderful care for our dear Mum."
