"Long waits for Urology appointment"

About: Newham General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I have now had 2 urology appointments at Newham University Hospital, and both times I have had to wait between 1h.15 minutes and 1h.40 minutes for me to see the consultant.

The first appointment they couldn't locate my referral letter, saying they hadn't received it, calling my GP for a faxed version, then it appearing from secretary. The implications of this were if they couldn't find the referral letter, the Doctor may not see me.

The second appointment there was no apparent reason, but if early appointments are already running late what does it mean for those patients attending later in the day?

I was surprised that the appointments came through so quickly and wonder whether they are packing too many in each session to maximise on payments?

There is very little information available about how long you have to wait, and certainly you are not warned. As a consequence reception staff were kept busy by a continual stream of patients asking how much longer they would have to wait.

Lots of us work and don't want to spend hours waiting for a hospital appointment.
