"More chance of seeing the Loch Ness Monster....."

About: James Paget University Hospital

Nursing staff were fantastic, hospital was spotless, but the lack of information other than 'she's doing well' is totally inadequate and the chance of speaking to a doctor well, as i said in the title, you have more chance of seeing the Loch Ness Monster than seeing a doctor to speak to.

I understand staff shortages and all that but the nurse cannot give you a detailed diagnosis or treatment needed, more attention is needed to keeping the relatives informed. Got fed up of asking to speak to a doctor only to be told there's not one here to speak to you at the moment.

I warned about not going into hospital over a weekend and it was good advice.

No point in making a formal complaint because the problem of a shortage of doctors at the weekend is well known.

Thank you for sharing your recent experiences as a relative.

Whilst it is positive to hear that the nursing staff and cleanliness of the hospital were both good, it is disappointing that you felt that you were not given adequate information, or the ability to speak with a member of the medical staff.

I would like the opportunity to discuss this in more detail with you if you would like to contact me on the telephone number below.

Alternatively, you could contact the PALS department on 452651 or 452793.

Kind Regards

Amanda Hood
