My 7 year old daughter fell and hit her head on a step at home recently, there was a cut and she was so frightened by the blood coming from the wound. She became really pale and drowsy
We took her to been seen at the Emergency Department at Good Hope Hospital. I registered her and took her through to the Paediatric area where she was seen immediately. We took her through to a cubicle where observations were done and a full assessment was done by the doctor.
She was given all the care and attention you could possibly wish for, all done speedily (straight away!) by professionals who were so kind and attentive. Just what you need as a parent and what my daughter needed at the time; calm, friendly assurance from professional people. She was also given a DVD player to watch Frozen on to watch while we waited in the cubicle while she was kept under observation. In the end all was OK, her hair was washed, the wound taken care of and she could go back home once the team had kept a close eye on her for a couple of hours.
I wanted to say a huge thank you to the Nurse in charge Paula, Dr Malik, Play Specialist Lydia and the team for taking such great care of my little girl. You are all a credit to the hospital and the NHS. Thank you.
"Superb and speedy care"
