"Admitted via A & E"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

I was admitted to A & E due to seeing the out of hours GP at Cottage Hospital on Friday evening.

Was very happy with all staff in A & E.

Slight minor issue the doctor on duty referred to me as male when I am female when talking to me although they had managed to write the correct details down.

Finally taken to a ward at 1.30am.

Seen by the Consultant on their rounds Saturday morning and Sunday morning who was superb.

Really felt that I was getting the best possible care to get me back up on my feet.

Also had a CT scan on Saturday late afternoon which confirmed my diagnosis.

I do however feel that the shorter time you spend in hospital the better.

The nurses at night are somewhat strange to say the least bringing your pills to you and referring to them as "sweeties", trying to give me ibuprofen when I should l not have been given it just lucky I asked what it was. Also still trying to give me IV antibiotics when I had finished the course and then telling me the consultant should have put it on my notes and me advising the nurse that I had finished the course.

All in all very glad to leave after a week as the most sleep I managed to get every night was around 4 hours due to noise at the nurses station, and you hear every patient buzzer every time it goes off and the glare of lights from the corridors.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent experience at

Accident and Emergency and as an inpatient at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. We were pleased to learn that you felt you got the best possible care and hope that you are well on the road to recovery. We would like to follow up the issues that you have raised regarding the night staff but would need your name and details of the ward. We would be grateful therefore if you would contact the PALS office at mtw-tr.palsoffice@nhs.net so that we can investigate further. With kind regards the PALS team.
