"I was happy to get back home after respite"

About: South Beach House

(as a service user),

I went to South Beach House for respite for one month while my daughter was on holiday and I would never want to be there permanently. I hated it. I didn’t get to have a bath the whole time I was there, I felt manky. The staff said they didn’t have time to help me. I think the permanent residents are given priority so it might be better for them.

There wasn’t much activity going on, you just had to talk to the person next to you but that dries up.

The home is nicely situated with views of the sea.

I was happy to get back home. If I was going to choose a care home to go in to it would not be South Beach.

Now when my daughter goes on holiday we manage with my carers and my private cleaner comes more often. I’m much happier with this, it suits me much better.
