"I had my daughter In York hospital ..."

About: York Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had my daughter In York hospital in March 2009.

Anything else?

I had my daughter In York hospital in March 2009. During my time there I was totally unsupported by staff, I was given no dignity or privacy and treated like a piece of meat.

I had wanted a natural drug free labour but was pushed into having an epidural by a flustered midwife who told me I should accept as I could be in pain for 12 hours more and it would make it easier should I need a caesarean! I was then left alone and rarely saw her and felt this was her intention in giving me the epidural, so she wouldn't have to bother with me.

The doctor who was 'caring' for me did not ask my consent for certain procedures and was laughing and joking with other staff members whilst she was performing examinations.

I was not given any support during labour nor was my partner.

I would never go to this hospital again if I were to ever decide to have another baby though I doubt I ever will as this experience has scared me too badly.
