"I went to the minor injuries dept. ..."

About: Malton Community Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I went to the minor injuries dept. after experiencing a sharp pain in my chest whilst doing some heavy lifting. I waited at the reception for 10 minutes, barely able to breath with pain, was greeted by an extremely abrupt and rude middle aged nurse who totally ignored what I was trying to say and basically told me that I would recieve no care because I didn't have an injury. Still in agony, I then had to return home, where I had to make an emergency appointment at Derwent Surgery, who were excellent and let me see a doctor straight away, who was very sympathetic and diagnosed a cracked rib.

What could be improved

The nurse was rude and really upset me, the dept. seemed totally understaffed.

Anything else?

Malton Hospital minor injuries dept. is a farce and if you injure yourself in Malton, I would recommend going to the Derwent Surgery first. If it's urgent, then you are basically stuffed.
