"Staff went the extra mile"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as the patient),

I had quite a traumatic time delivering my little girl but Fiona McCoombe helped me so much calming me down and looking after me. In my opinion she really went the extra mile and came to visit me in the ward the next day. Which was lovely of her. I was in hospital for 5 days and whilst she only was mainly looking after me for around 8-10 hours of that she is the only one that stood out. Her colleague Anne Marie (I think her name was) was lovely too

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your daughter. Secondly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Patient Opinion. I am sorry to hear that the delivery of your daughter was traumatic and I am glad that our staff were on hand to support you through that process and the positive effect it had.

I will ensure that your kind words are passed on to the Lead Midwife for sharing with staff, especially Fiona and Anne Marie.
