"Prostate removal"

About: Guy's Hospital

My husband had his prostate removed robotically last week. The urology team and the surgeon were absolutely brilliant, and we have nothing but praise for them. After his operation he was admitted to Florence ward-what a difference! On the second night of his stay 3 nurses were having an argument at the bottom of his bed! Another patient nearby put his television on rather loudly at 1am-nobody asked him to turn it down. When I was visiting an elderly patient struggled to make his own bed-nobody offered to help him. On his discharge day, my husband got dressed, and a nurse asked him very rudely why he was dressed! Needless to say, my husband couldn't wait to get home!

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your husband's experience of treatment and care with us. We are pleased that his surgery went well but are concerned to hear about his experience on the ward afterwards. If you would like to contact out PALS Team they can liaise with the department so that we can look into this further. Our PALS (patient advice and liaison service) team can be contacted by telephone 020 7188 8801 or email pals@gstt.nhs.uk
