"Poor Aftercare Postnatal"

About: Goole & District Hospital (Acute)

With my first baby, it is my understanding that a midwife should visit you the same day or day after your baby comes home. This did not happen. It was not until day 5, where I had to go into the centre, not even offered a visit. I was told my baby was jaundice and had lost too much weight and called the hospital immediately without even telling me why! I then had to go to York with a 5 day old newborn to be told we could leave at 11pm! Not good for a baby! I then had a visit booked for a re weigh and had a phone call to see if I could go in, Erm no I can't! The midwife eventually came, hovered over me whilst I changed my baby because they were in a rush, weighed him and left. Still due another visit... All this wouldn't be happening if a midwife came to visit at the correct time in the first instance instead of leaving a baby until 5 days old! I'm a first time mum, breastfeeding my baby, and the level of aftercare is ridiculous! There needs to be a complaints procedure for this!
