"Staff smoking"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

Seeing a member of the nursing staff in uniform, sitting on a dirty wall on the main road smoking, does not fill me with confidence regarding cleanliness and hygiene at Wigan Infirmary. Staff should be made to change out of their uniform before going outside for a cigarette.Isn't this just basic common sense? You don't have to be a doctor to realise how unhygienic and dangerous a contaminated uniform could be.

Thank you for your posting.

I am sorry to learn that you have witnessed staff on their official breaks sitting on a dirty wall on the main road smoking.

Executives and Senior Managers conduct walkabouts offering support and advice regarding the Trust’s smoking cessation service.

Any staff found to be smoking off site will be asked to extinguish their cigarette if they are not following the Trust’s Dress Policy.
