I accompanied my elderly mother to a consultation at the haematology clinic yesterday. We travelled from Preston as an earlier appointment was provided by Blackpool. Despite apprehension due to lack of co ordination and communication from GP surgery our experience yesterday was excellent. Initially a very helpful and friendly member of staff in the carpark, sensitive to my mum`s mobility, helped us find the multi story and was lovely (and they were off duty). Friendly and helpful navigators were on hand to direct us to the MacMillan Centre. The staff in the Costa were cheerful and polite and they even cleared the tables (unlike many Costa branches). The entrance area was bright and sunny and a pleasant place to wait).
On arrival at the MacMillan Centre we found the staff friendly and helpful putting my mother at ease. We were the first appointment of the afternoon so were more or less on time into the consultancy room. The doctor was polite, efficient and straight to the point but they treated my mum with respect and sensitivity. They were thorough and inspired confidence. They answered both our questions satisfactorily and frankly put the GPs surgery to shame as they had not passed on blood results.
The whole hospital was bright and extremely clean. fabulous and thank you all.
"Very good experience yesterday"
