What I liked
I can not think of anything I liked about this ward.
What could be improved
Awareness of the patients actual needs relating to there medical history and current health problems.
For example upon admission to a hospital after explaing the above things one would not expect to find out that the staff have forgotten to administer vital meds and provide basic care.
We as a family have had to keep prompting the staff to do their job and I mean that in the bluntest sense. From the wrong details being put on his wrist band to making sure the files were containing information relevant to the patient.
Most importantly was the way the Nurses began bucking up their ideas when they were due a visit from a well known Sheffield party leader. The atmosphere on the ward became comfortable, the staff interacted with visitors and the patients. The care offered was also improved. I'm sad to say that the next day it was business as usual and the improved moral had been long forgotten.
I have never experience this when my family member has been admitted to hospital before. However, then he was in the Hallamshire which seems over all to have a better feel about it. Anyway I should not have anymore complaints to make about this hospital concerning this particular family member because he is no longer with us.
