"Blood test at Friston Ward"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

My daughter had an appointment this morning at 9:00, it was for the blood test. She was repeatedly stabbed with a needle, because you can`t call it any different. The doctor (don`t understand why it wasn't a nurse :-/) that tried to take a blood sample of her, clearly didn't have the skill for that. I had to stop it after three attempts and none of them were successful . Then I was informed that the cream they`ve applied can shrink the veins, but nobody told me that before :-( I`m angry and disappointed with their skills, don`t know who I should see that could be capable to take a blood sample of my daughter. She is 15 months old and she will remember it for a while :-(

We are deeply concerned to read your posting on NHS choices and would be very keen to speak to you about this in more detail.

Having confidence in the staff treating your daughter is very important and clearly this is not what you personally felt.

If you are willing to speak to a memebr of staff from Friston ward, please contact out Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will be able to co-ordinate this.

They can be contacted on 01323 435886 or be email at: esh-tr.PALSE@nhs.net.

Please accept our apologies for you and your daughters poor experience. We hope that you feel able to make contact with us.
