About: Bristol Eye Hospital

This is a cpy that I have sent to PALs at the BEH.

Over the period Jun - Aug 2015 I attended and received treatment for an eye condition. I would like to pass on my thanks to all the staff at BEH from the Ancillary, the Nursing staff, to the Surgical team, I have no complaint what so ever.

The dedication, helpfulness, and care which I saw from all the staff was a real pleasure to see and receive.

It would be appropriate to highlight the surgeon especially, but also their surgical team for the understanding, patience, advice, and of course their skill in looking after me.

Secondly, the Nurses on Gloucester were excellent, please note that one nurse on the night shift on duty over the night of 16/17 July deserves special praise because of the way they dealt with a difficult patient, who tried to belittle them. Another prize nurse had an excellent sense of humour and showed excellent care, they also came down from another ward to say goodbye before I was discharged.

Lastly but not least the nurses in the Ophthalmology Clinic on Level 2, all the nurses were happy, kind, and made sure what ever treatment I was receiving was fully explained. They also ensured that I was shown into the correct waiting area and where the doctors consulting room was located. In addition as patients we were informed of the delay in appointment times, the length of possible delay, and the reason, we were not just left wondering what was happening.

It is easy to complain, sometimes with good reason, however, we as patients sometimes take for granted the care that hospitals provide, that is the reason for this email. I hope that my gratitude is passed on, not only to the staff mentioned above but also to the Hospital Management Team, who like all Management Teams forget about the individuals who actually do the work.

Thank you for reading this email from a very satisfied patient. I only wish the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport were half as good as the BEH.
